Mineral Commodities of Northern BC: Why we have them, how they are developed, and uses in everyday life.
Celebrate mining week and join us in welcoming Paul Jago to our Speaker Series Luncheons! Get an update on the mineral development sector, as well as brief review of mines and major projects.
Paul will take us on a "guided tour" as he explains the metal, coal, and industrial mineral commodities that are explored for and developed in BC, including their use in value-added products. Discover location and uniqueness of these mineral deposits as they relate to the geological history of the province.

Paul Jago ~ is the Regional Geologist for the Omineca and Northeast regions with the BC Ministry of Energy and Mines. From 2005-2008, Paul was enrolled with the Mineral Deposit Research Group at UBC where he studied the Mt. Milligan deposit for his Masters Degree in Geological Sciences. Paul worked seasonally with Exploration companies in north-central BC, and then several years with Freeport-McMoran in the United States. Publications include co-authorships in the survey’s Geological Fieldwork, and Geoscience BC summary reports. A paper summarizing his Masters thesis has been accepted by the Society of Economic Geologists. Paul is happy to be back learning and exploring in the Omineca region of BC, and raising a young family near grandparents in the community of Prince George.
